Motel Swindlers Nabbed in Okinawa City

Date Posted: 1999-12-24

Two swindlers, a man and a woman, recently discovered that the trade would never give them any favor with law enforcement officers on Okinawa. The first, a 35-year-old woman, was arrested on December 13th, at 10:40 p.m., and the other, her 39-year old accomplice, was nabbed on December 14th, at 1:05 p.m., after they deceived the clerk of a motel in Hiyane, Okinawa City. They pretended as if they had enough money to pay for a room, drinks and food when they went there on December 13th, around 10:35 a.m. and stayed until 7:05 PM. Their bill amounted to 6,350. But they refused to settle it, much to the displeasure of the motel owner.

When the police officers from Okinawa City Police reached the site of the incident, following notification by the motel owner, the suspects had already fled from the hotel with a car. But the police easily identified the owner of the car by its number plate, and dispatched cops to his house. When they got there, he was out, but there was a woman, who later turned out to be one of the suspects. She confessed that she had been involved in the motel incident. 14 hours later, her accomplice was also arrested.
