2000 Summit Clean-up Campaign Planned for January

On Sunday January 23rd, from 10:00 to 12:00, there will be a 2000 Summit Clean-up Campaign all over the island along main roads such as Kokusai Street, HW 58 and HW 330. Several scenic spots and beaches on the island will also undergo a facelift.

This will be the first clean-up campaign sponsored by Location Arrangement Division of Okinawa Prefecture People’s Summit Promotion Council. during this clean-up campaign, participants in the campaign will pick up trash and cans from the roads and other locations, especially the beaches and scenic spots. The Location Arrangement Division has been collecting opinions and requests from the municipalities in Okinawa on places to clean up in this first major clean-up campaign. The authorities are also sensitizing people in Okinawan communities to keep clean surroundings, through advertisements in local newspapers and self-government bodies on the island.
