Yamagataya department store to close Aug. 31Date Posted: 1999-08-27 Two major factors contributed to the closing of Yamagataya. First, the store was hit hard by the nation’s poor economy, and second, its Kokusai Street location with limited parking and congested traffic conditions, made it virtually impossible for potential shoppers to visit the store. The store announced a special countdown sale will be run from August 24. An earlier sale in June proved to be highly successful, with sales 200% up on previous figures. |
