Hear My Voice: I Need a Stove!By: Anthony Maoire Date Posted: 1999-12-10 But problem: housing refused to allow me to stay on TLA until my baggage arrived, so I lived on the floor for 45 days. Next, the Air Force and Army housing agencies told me they would not give me any furniture for my place. So, now I've got my property here but I'm still without a stove, washer and dryer. I would not have had a refrigerator if a friend in my unit had not PCS back to the States and given me his. So i have a refrigerator now. Both agencies told me to go buy these items. What the heck is going on? I'm probably not the only one like this. Maybe the only one who won't take it. I know they are doggone wrong for not providing these items to soldiers who are entitled to them. I can die for my country, but I can't have any furniture? What I understand is that two weeks prior to my arrival, the Air Force told the Army to earmark a certain amount of dollars to them or they would discontinue the service, and the Army told the Air Force to go pound sand. Now, we have probably two senior officers who don't give a heck about the soldiers' quality of life they just lowered, telling each other , like its only about them to go pound sand. I have never seen any crap of this sort anywhere in the world. I have been stationed in Europe and Italy and a couple of other overseas assignments. The quality of life for the soldier or the airman always came first, especially when you had it to give. In this case, they have it to give. I have been to the warehouses and, believe me, they have it to give. But won't. Okay, here's what I would like: a stove. And for the other soldiers who are facing this same predicament to be contacted and given what they require. My e-mail is hotsands@momo2000.com Anthony Maoire. |
