Bar owners caught selling alcohol to minors

Violations have been issued to the owners of two izakaya (bar) and a restaurant in Okinawa City after police found the three establishments supplied alcohol to minors, it was revealed Tuesday.

The three men are: Choukou Kikumoto, 53, owner of the izakaya Murasaki Okinawa Corp., Kenichi Nakamatsu, 44, from the restaurant Moromi Shokudo, and the owner of Izakaya Satoya, Tomokatsu Yara, 38. At Murasaki, investigations revealed eight minors were supplied with alcohol; Moromi Shokudo supplied alcohol to five high school students and at Izakaya Satoya, it was found seven high school students and one minor were allowed to consume alcohol, in particular Awamori.

These violations were a result of police investigations conducted July 4 in Okinawa City.
