Date Posted: 1999-12-10

The Chisato Tomihara Flamenco Studio will be holding its Tangos Tangos Flamenco ’99 display at the Citizens’ Theater of Palette Kumoji (9F), in Naha City on Thursday 16th (Thu) and Friday 17th December 1999.

This flamenco dance performance first went public 30 years ago under the direction of Chitose Tomihara, instructor of the Naha Flamenco school. This year marks the 9th performance of its kind.

The performance will be organized in two parts. The students from Tomihara’s Flamenco Studio, with 1-10 year Flamenco experience, will be performing to passionate guitar sounds in the first part. The second part will be reserved for a professional Flamenco dancer and a Flamenco guitarist. For this two-day flamenco performance, Professional dancers, guitarists, and even special stage lighting staff, have been specially imported to Okinawa.

Flamenco instructor and promoter Chitose Tomihara explained the highlights of this year’s spectacles: “ Flamenco is complete when song, the sound of a guitar, and dance become one. To dance Flamenco, we need to harmonize our senses with our body. At the performance, we will offer a wholesome Flamenco experience.”

The show begins at 7:00 p.m. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Tickets cost ¥2500 in advance and ¥2800 at the door. Those who wish to purchase tickets should contact Ms. Tengan at (098) 867-1171. (Ms. Tengan speaks English.)
