Another Fake Dollar Dealer Under Arrest

Date Posted: 1999-12-10

Okinawa City Police recently arrested a man for possession and use of counterfeit American currency. The detention was made on December 3rd, at 10:20 p.m. after another man, 34-year old Takashi Yara, reported that he had received the forged bills from the suspect.

The man, who is now in detention allegedly gave fake 100 dollar notes to Takashi Yara, who has already been under police custody in Kitanakagusuku Village since the end September this year. He says he handed out the fake notes because he was asked to lend money. According to Okinawa City Police, he even told the other man directly that what he was handing out were false US dollars. Finally, on December 3rd, Takashi Yara, was placed under arrest for possession and distribution of counterfeit money.

On the same day at 10:00 a.m., another 48-year old man who tried to harbor the suspect was caught by Okinawa City Police. In the beginning of October, he actually gave refuge to the other person who had received fake US dollar notes from Takashi Yara, gave him money to flee overseas even though he knew that the man was a counterfeit currency dealer.
