Five men nabbed for car accident for insurance fraud

Date Posted: 2003-06-14

A reported car accident that took place in a rural area about six months ago has lead to the arrest of six men on suspicion of insurance fraud. According to Okinawa Prefectural Police, the accident happened on a quiet farm road in Nakagusuku, where a Mercedes Benz and a Japanese made luxury car had reportedly collided. As a result, a car insurance company paid 2.5 million for damages.

Police were reportedly suspicious from the beginning because of the accident location. After six months of investigation, police were finally able to establish that the crash was intentional, and arrested the five men who all turned out to be members of the same right-wing political group. Four of the involved men are from Okinawa, and one from Aichi Prefecture.
