20 new staff for Summit Office

Okinawa Prefecture Governor Keiichi Inamine has appointed an additional 20 new personnel to the Prefectural Summit Promotion Office, it was announced Monday.

The additional officers will bring to 36 the number of personnel staffing the office in preparation for the 2000 G8 Summit of the world’s major industrialized nations.

Their roles will primarily involve dealing with local municipalities in Okinawa and the Japanese government.

Former construction section advisor, Eitaro Akamine, was appointed deputy manager of the office.

Governor Inamine said he hopes the staff would make good use of their roles and ensure the utmost efforts are made to make the July 2000 summit a successful one.
