All Japan Campaign Against Traffic Violation

From the night of November 4th, 11:00pm to 3:00am on the 5th, several checkpoints were set up along the main road, express way entrances, and near “Izakayas” and bars in Okinawa. Some 447 police officers were sent out to each point to enforce traffic regulations.

The purpose of this campaign was to decrease the number of traffic violations, especially drunk driving and non-licensed driving. Four divisions of Okinawa Prefecture police: Traffic, Security, Police Detective and Patrol and Guard Divisions cooperated to enforce this campaign. The Traffic Division of the Prefecture Police has published its results of this campaign. The number of traffic violations reached 380 within a few hours after the campaign started. There were 60 cases of drunk driving and 13 cases of non-licensed driving. Four people from the 380 cases of traffic violation were arrested.
