Torii Station will present families with satisfaction guaranteed on Saturday, December 4th, as the US Army hosts a plethora of outdoor art and sport events that are sure to stir passion and excitement.

The annual Army vs. Navy Flag Football Game will be taking place at Torii's Softball Diamond. Since the first game in 1980, the Army team has won six times as opposed to three times for Navy. Last year, the "Commander's Cup" went to the Navy team.

This end-of-millenium confrontation will kick off at 1:00pm. Anyone who can’t make it to the Torii field should not despair; they may not have to miss the game after all. AFN Wave will bring live commentaries from kick-off to the final whistle. So, tune your transistors onto 89.1. Fans are allowed to cheer their favorite team to victory at work, at home, or even in their cars.

While dads and moms go crazy over passes and tosses at the football field, sons and daughters can have fun on their own. At the nearby Torii Gym, a Pass, Punt & Kick Contest will be going on for boys and girls ages 7-15 years. The age categories for the contest are 7-8 years, 9-11 years, 12-15 years and the awards go to youth in each age group. Sign up for entry into the competitions will begin at 9:00am.

Shopping around at the Krist Indlemart Crafts Fair is another alternative for families going out to Torii on that Saturday. Items ranging from wreaths to hand-made woodcrafts can be purchased at the fair. Torii station's Art and Crafts Center will also be selling a variety of hand-made items including the popular wood reindeer that can be added to Christmas decorations.

It is also rumored that Santa Claus will appear on Torii offering kids photo opportunities, for $2.00 or ¥250. Proceeds from the Santa Claus drive will go to raise funds for the project “Better Opportunities For single Soldier Program on Okinawa.”

The craft fair will be held at Torii's Fitness Center Building 266 from 10:00am to 5:30pm. It will be widely open to everyone, including local nationals. For those who wish to have a vendor table at the fair, please contact Torii Sports at 644-4334 (9:00am - 9:00pm from Monday through Sunday). Vendor table fee for inside the building is $25, and $20 for space outside.

Visitors will also have the chance to finish their day at Torii with a good view of a neatly decorated Christmas tree. The Torii Tree Lighting Ceremony will be taking place from 6:00pm at the Torii PX Parking Lot.

For more information on either event, please contact MWR at 644-4144/644-4334.
