Volunteers for Summit Still Sought

Nago Citizens Summit Promotion Council has been seeking volunteers for the Summit. These volunteers would take part in various areas of preparation, welcoming and making the occasion end with success. That will be the last G-8 Summit Meeting of the 20th century and the first Summit held in a Japanese city other than Tokyo.

The volunteers who will participate in the Summit-related activities will have roles as tour guides, event staff, translators and interpreters, and informational acts. The main area of the activities will be in Nago City, which has the hotel that has been designated as official site of the Summit Meeting. And the people who want to take part as volunteers should make it to the various study programs. About 10 meetings are scheduled for within the period from November 1999 through July 2000. Promoting Friendship Division of Nago Citizens Summit Promotion Council is aiming to gather 200 volunteers for the Summit Meeting. So far, the number of the volunteers is over 100, including 35 foreigners.
