Explore Chinese Culture With Phai’s Annual 50% Off Sale

Date Posted: 1999-10-19

“Actually, 50% is just the minimum! Most of their merchandise is 75% off this year! I can’t believe they are willing to go so slow!” – a customer.

China, the third largest nation in the world in land and population, has the world’s longest continuously recorded history. And it has given the world some of the most significant scientific, technological and artistic inventions and techniques.

From very early times, Chinese artisans dazzled the world with their technical brilliance and innovation, and today, Chinese arts and crafts are coveted the world over. As China emerges from isolation to become a major worlds power and player, all eyes have turned to Chinese arts and crafts in an attempt to value and understand this most original culture and its people.

Jade is China’s most precious stone and one of the earliest art forms to reach a superior level of achievement. Chinese valued the stone for its beauty as well as for attributed magical powers. Phai’s House of Jade offers a large selection of this regal mineral in its figurines, sculptures, jewelry and Honan Ships.

Lacquerware is another valued and attractive technique. Emperor Qianlong (1735-1796) liked it so much he was buried in a coffin carved and preserved using this method. Made from the bark of the lacquer tree, the glossy sheen of lacquerware is attractive, strong and lightweight.

At Phai’s, you can find beautiful jewelry boxes and wedding baskets containing lacqerware as well as antique porcelain pieces taken from older art-works. All things Chinese are coming into vogue with such strength that both antiques and modern day crafts are extremely valued – and at Phai’s you can find it all, including antique furniture with seals of authenticity.

Some of the newer attractions are: the horses made out of camel bone, jade Shi-Shi dogs, Cloisonnee ladies, interior painted crystal balls, peach, grape and tangerine trees made out of new jade and amethyst with very life-like looking leaves, yellow agate ships, Polystone figurines, lacquered curio shelves and much, much more.

The sale runs from October 16-31 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day. As always, people will be given a bonus certificate for additional savings. For purchases over $100 during a single day, customers will get a ticket that will allow them to participate in a raffle for the first prize: a 3-foot Honan Jade Ship worth $2,295.00! Purchases under $100 will bestow a raffle ticket for the second prize, which is still a surprise.

In addition, spot sales will be featured, in which for a determined amount of time, an additional discount will be in place. Nobody knows when these spot sales will happen, so it is just a matter of being at the right place (Phai’s) at the right time!

So come on down to Phai’s! After all, Christmas is not far away. A Chinese lacquered wedding box under the Christmas tree is a must this year!
