American servicemen get into trouble

Okinawa Prefecture Police report that American servicemen were participants in four separate incidents in Naha and Okinawa City on Saturday.

Okinawa City Police arrested a 21-year-old private after he allegedly trespassed into the house of a 48-year-old company employee around 3:30 a.m. Okinawa City Police arrested a 22-year-old lance corporal on the charge of destroying property. He reportedly kicked a steel trashcan into the window of Okinawa Civic Hall breaking it. Both were drunk at the time of their arrests and are denying the charges.

In Naha City, police arrested a 20-year-old private and an 18-year-old lance corporal, both assigned to Camp Kinser, on charges of riding a taxi without paying the fare. The pair, together with another two American servicemen, took a taxi from Kadena to Naha City and then ran away without paying the fare. Police say that the men are denying the charges. Police are also looking for the other two servicemen who had been in the same taxi.

Naha Police also arrested a 20-year-old lance corporal on suspicion of driving while under influence of alcohol and not reporting an accident.
