Man unhappy with doctor, attacks with knife

Date Posted: 1999-10-19

A 41-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday by Itoman police under suspicion of having violated the Japanese sword and firearms law. The suspect was later released from custody because he requires constant medical treatment.

The incident happened at Nanbu Tokushu-kai Hospital in Kochinda. The man is suffering from a chronic renal insufficiency and thought that his doctor does not treat him properly. While he underwent dialysis on that day, he suddenly decided that he did not like the way the doctor treated him. He got angry and went back to his home, interrupting his medical treatment. After he got to his house, he took a filleting knife and went back to the hospital wielding the knife and insisting his doctor treat him properly. Personnel at the hospital who saw the man with the knife in his hand called the police. Itoman City Police who arrived at the scene arrested the man immediately, but he was later released to his doctor because of his medical condition. The Itoman City Police are still investigating the case.
