Kick Night 2By: Kotoko Chinen Date Posted: 1999-10-19 Following the success of the first event last June, Maki Gym, the only kick boxing gym on the island, will present the second "Kick Night 2: The Samurai Challenge" on Sunday, October 24th. During the Sunday fight, 14 amateur and semi-professional fighters will perform five K-1 bouts (the rating for heavyweights in karate, kenpo and kick boxing) and two "No-Hold-Bards" fighting games. Three American fighters from Maki kick boxing gym are among the challengers, while the others come from different Karate Dojos, or training gyms. Two out of the five kick boxing fights are scheduled to be the "revenge” matches. The same contestants from previous close matches will confront each other again for the final victory. This event will give a rare opportunity for kick boxing fans to watch their favorite game live in Okinawa. "I want the audience enjoy the exciting atmosphere nearby the ring, " said Masaaki Asato, the event organizer. As was the case last time, the bar will be open for alcohol beverages and guests are allowed to bring their own drinks to the game. Doors will open at 18:30 and kicks will start flying at 19:30. Tickets are now on sale at Club Cielo (Y2000 in advance, 2500 at the door). According to organizer Asato-San, there's still vacancy for fighters.
