Miyako Police net illegal loan sharks

Two employed men who operated an illegal loan company have been arrested. Hiroshi Shimoji, 53, a real estate agent and Katsumi Yoza, the owner of a registered loan company, and both residents of Miyako were found to be operating an illegal loan company when police were informed they had not been legally registered.

According to a Miyako Police investigation, Shimoji and Yoza had lent money to two women in Miyako from March 2-12, but when one of the women became suspicious she notified police, who arrested the two suspects early Thursday morning. Loan companies must be legally registered and the owner must first seek approval to operate as such from the Okinawa Prefectural Governor.
