OPG to stage Ryukyu Kingdom FestivalDate Posted: 1999-10-08 Events scheduled for the Ashibina area will allow locals and visitors alike to better experience the real Okinawa, such as Okinawan traditional dance, Eisa dance and karate, among other activities to be performed on stage. All are welcome to participate in events such as an Okinawan Dialect Lesson and a Ryukyuan Dance Lesson. The Ashibina area will be open from October 9-16, from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Admission is free. As part of the activities planned by the Okinawa Prefectural Government, a special booth will serve sweets, unique to each of the countries participating at the Summit, and will run from October 8 to 17. Prefectural officials expect the events will spark an even wider interest in Okinawan culture and traditions through hands on experiences. |
