With security for the G8 Summit high on the list of priorities of both the central and Okinawan governments, Riot Police Unit chiefs assigned to the summit assembled for a conference here recently to discuss the security systems to be put in place next year. Among many topics discussed, the need for riot police to prepare for emergency situations was a priority along with the need for complete cooperation between prefectural police and those seconded from mainland duties.
