Adult store shop owner under arrest

Date Posted: 1999-07-09

Two 16-year-old runaways coerced into working for an adult store have been placed under protective custody, following the arrest of the store’s owner on charges she contravened employment regulations, Yonbaru police said.

On June 30, police arrested Ritsuko Yonamine, 50, owner of the adult-oriented shop located in Matsuyama, Naha City, on suspicion of violating Public Employment Security Regulations.

The incident occurred in April when Yonamine and the co-owner of the shop, Mitsuru Irei, 44, coerced the two young girls to work at the shop fully realizing the two girls were runaways, a breach of employment regulations.

After police raided the shop, they found the girls working in the shop and immediately placed them in protective custody. The two girls then furnished police with statements, and an arrest warrant for Yonamine was issued.

When they visited the store to serve the warrant they discovered the suspect had gone overseas a day earlier. Approximately one month later on June 30, the suspect surrendered to police who immediately placed her under arrest.
