Okinawa City Police arrest credit card cheatDate Posted: 1999-07-09 Okinawa police arrested the man, Shoji Shinzato, 37, on suspicion of using an invalid credit card on 59 occasions between January 9 until March 22 at an Uechi, Okinawa City snack bar. Shinzato, police said, was aware the car was unusable, but he continued to use it whenever he had to pay for his bill at the bar. On each occasion, the suspect requested the snack bar clerk to write a receipt and debit the amount from the company the credit card had been issued. When the credit card company alerted police to Shinzato’s deception, a warrant was issued but when police attempted to make the arrest they discovered the suspect had fled. On June 18, Shinzato, on his father-in-law’s advice, surrendered to Okinawa City Police. |
