Slogan, poster contest aimed at youth

Date Posted: 1999-06-26

Police stations throughout the prefecture recently invited Okinawan schoolchildren to create slogans and posters for an island-wide campaign to find ways to help reduce the number of young children loitering in public places. A total of 42 slogans and an equal number of posters were selected by local police stations and submitted to a panel of judges who selected six slogans and posters for awards.

Also, the Okinawa Prefecture Education Board and Okinawa Prefectural Police will jointly conduct a campaign against youth delinquency during the months of July and August. Officials say the contest will be an excellent means of educating the youth and adults about the problems affecting the young people of the prefecture.

In the summer months of July and August, a movement to increase public awareness of late-night loitering by Okinawan youths will be run.
