Naha City establishes summit promotion division

With the 2000 G8 Economic Summit still 12 months away, the Naha City Office is taken all necessary steps to ensure the summit is a resounding success with the announcement Friday of plans to establish a G8 summit promotions division. The Mayor of Naha City, Yasuharu Oyadomari, made the announcement at a specially convened press conference.

The newly created division will be run by the Administration Department of the Naha City Office, and chaired by a local mayor. Mayor Oyadomari said Naha City should be the logical choice to head the division as Naha Airport, located in the city, provides a gateway to the rest of the prefecture.

The mayor added he would seek public opinion to ensure the promotions division and the summit is both functional and successful.
