It’s all about love ... and music

With so much focus surrounding the authenticity of some of today’s popular music groups, it’s refreshing when a new R&B artist enters the music scene and detours from the predictable three-verses and chorus, without forsaking their musical integrity and the ever elusive pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Now include among those who bring a fresh perspective to their craft an immensely talented group of three singers/instrumentalists A.J. (Andre Johnson), AJA, and Jay Raemey, better known as A.J. & Company, who perform original compositions. Lead vocalist A.J. and co-lead vocalist Raemey are both alumnis of the Unites States Air Force Tops in Blue. AJA, who has tasted the sweet nectar of success and garnered a local following the release of his debut CD Deviant Lover two years ago, has been a major force in pursuing this project, including its release on his own record rebel, Boss Bull.

“Each member of the group has their individual goals, mine is to parlay this experience into a full time music writer for a major record rebel,” says A.J. “I’ve already received interest from three prospective record companies.” With determination, vision, talent and hard work cornered, the group is primed for competition both here on Okinawa and in the U.S.

The music on It’s All About Love, the 14 track sonic extravaganza debut CD by loyal musicians A.J. & Company, has the texture of a lushly orchestrated bliss. From the infectious opening track “It’s Real,” built around a bed of savory keyboard bells with a touch of jazz guitar at the song’s bridge, this disc aims to take you by the heart in a romantic dinner for two.

“Share” is an emotional mural dipped in colorful arrays of an eternal soul mate, enhanced further by the unique vocal combination of A.J.’s vibrato and AJA’s soothing falsetto. The tender ballad exuded regret and reassurance all at the same time.

The title It’s All About Love says it all. But there’s also a few up-tempo songs added for those of you who love to get your groove on. If you like your dance music to come complete with catchy lyrics and a strong chorus laced over an insatiable rhythm then look no more. Songs like “It’s Alright,” “Loose Control,” and the hip-hop kissed “This Song’s 4 U” are guaranteed to pack dance floors in an unprecedented way.

“This project has taken us a year and a half to complete and I’m very pleased with the results and the fan support,” added A.J. with a smile.

If you are a connoisseur of good music, then It’s All About Love should be in your collection. If not, go give this CD a listen at Kadena’s Power Zone to A.J. & Company’s pure ear candy.
