Date Posted: 1999-06-11

Full-day kindergarten programs will be implemented next school year (1999-2000) at all seven Okinawa district schools that offer kindergarten, Dr. Steven R. Bloom, Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDs), Okinawa District Superintendent, announced recently.

The full-day kindergarten will be held at Bob Hope Primary, Stearly Heights Elementary and Kadena Elementary Schools on Kadena Air Base, Zukeran Elementary and E.C. Killin Elementary Schools on Camp Foster, Bechtel Elementary School on Camp Mctureous, and Kinser Elementary on Camp Kinser. There will be no 1/2 day kindergarten at any of these schools.

The actual start of the school year 1999-2000 kindergarten programs will be delayed until the week of 13 September 1999, allowing time for training and classroom set up. All children 5 years old by October 31, 1999 are eligible for the full day programs. For more information, contact your local school or Kelley Germaine at the Okinawa District Office at 634-1953
