Taiwan investors threaten to pull-out of project

Date Posted: 1999-06-05

A group of Taiwanese investors unhappy with a project in Motobu have threatened to withdraw, airing concerns over recent developments.

The problem has been caused by differences of opinion between the group and a local company who owns Aquapolis, in Motobu, northern Okinawa. According to reports, the investors argue that parent company Aqua Park, should be liable for costs to retain a lot for the shopping mall at Aquapolis. The two groups are also at odds over the designation of Aquapolis as a special tourist attraction.

Both Aqua Park representatives and the group of investors, however, have said they hope the project can be concluded successfully, although they admit the present setback has made it difficult.
