Poker Run benefit raises over $1,500

Date Posted: 1999-05-29

On Sunday May 16, the Far East Knights M/C sponsored a Poker Run to benefit 6-year-old Christina Haugen who was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in her eye. Unfortunately the eye had to be removed. Her father "Jimbow" was a member of the motorcycle community of Okinawa who retired from the Marine Corps last year. Approximately 150 members of the Biker Community rallied to help support one of their own. Over $1,500 dollars was raised for the family, to supplement the cost of a prosthetic eye for little Christina.

To all,

I just wanted to say thanks to all that gave their time and support to help Christina. Any time a community can come together to help someone in need, especially someone whose life is just beginning, is truly a great thing. We may not be able to ease the pain but we can try to ease the burden. A special thanks to the following people, for without them this would not have been a success; my Brothers and their families from the Far East Knights, Al Evers and James Smith from S&E Custom Cycle, Steve Weingartner from Miller Light, First Chance and their patrons, Willie from Mom's Harley Bar, Rising Sun Running Club, American Steel, American Thunder, Been There Done That, Harley Kai, Jokers, OMCC, Pythons, Rough Riders, all the independent riders and enthusiast, Bulldog, Troy Burdet, Z-1, and everyone else's name I forgot to mention.

Thank you all, see ya in the wind.

Charles 'FRODO' Whitten, President
Far East Knights MC
