Ringing in the latest Taco BellsBy: Kotoko Chinen Date Posted: 1999-05-29 News of the latest addition of the popular Mexican style fast-food restaurant traveled fast and many Taco Bell lovers made a beeline to the restaurant on opening day. Although the lines grew as the day lengthened, there were a few anxious moments for the manager, Zeny Dural. "Before the opening day, I was nervous thinking if people knew about the opening. But, when I saw the long line that went from the counter to outside the entrance (on opening day), I got nervous again thinking if we have enough supplies for all those people," said Dural, laughing. Taco Bell restaurant is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who saw his first restaurant open in Downey, California in 1964. More than 35 years on, this quick-service eatery continues to prosper and now boasts approximately 4,600 locations in 50 American states and nearly 200 outlets internationally. The Taco Bell Express menu includes Tacos, Burritos, Mexican Pizza, Nachos, and Combos. Among them, Mexican Pizza and Supreme items are the most popular items at the Hansen Branch. The Gorditas, topped with zesty sauce and freshly prepared salsa with a choice of beef, chicken or steak will be added to the line-up in July. The restaurant can accommodate 250 people, and is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to midnight. (Operating hours may vary after the opening of Popeye Chicken.). The 5th Taco Bell Express opened in the Camp Kinser Food Court Bldg.1227 on May 26. |
