Toles Family Brings Good Cheer to Yomitan Nursing Home

Date Posted: 1999-05-22

Each year more than three million people spend their holidays within the walls of an institution, be it a nursing home, convalescent home or hospital. Many of these people live far away from their loved ones, or are 'victim' to their loved ones' busy work schedule. For them, life can be a desolate experience. But this year, the Toles family from Camp Kinser found a way to make Mother's Day for so many of these people far more enjoyable with a visit to the Yomitan No Sato Rojin (Nursing) Home.

What's most touching is that the Toles family do not belong to any charity or organization, and gave up their time to give to those who are alone. As they said, all they sought to do was share their time in the hope the day would be a special one for those at the nursing home. During their visit, the family gave out roses and passed out cake. The Toles children - Izerial 12, Brianna 7, Izial Jr. 6 and Tasha 15 - performed traditional Taiko dances for the residents. The family would like to thank Mrs. Sunabe, Mr. Rogriguez and the director of Yomitan Nursing Home for helping them bring joy to the elderly. They would also like to thank MCCS for their donation towards this event.
