"Dancing Caravan" to be held at USODate Posted: 1999-05-22 Dance had a central role to play in ancient rituals, and eventually grew to embody the value systems of cultures which shaped it. Mystic tribal acts of early communities gave way to organize religious ceremonies, the most important of which were concerned with fertility of the earth and the human race. And so, the art of "Raks Sharki" or belly dance, as you know it, was born. On Saturday, June 5 at the USO, be ready to embrace re-enactments of some ritual dances. The show begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are currently on sale at the USO. Adult admission is $8 and $5 for children 10 and under. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. |
