Date Posted: 1999-05-14

The president and directors from one of Taiwan's top companies met Monday with Okinawa Governor Inamine to officially announce their plans to construct a hotel in Ameku, Naha City. The hotel, if approved, would be completed in 2003 and provide more than 200 rooms. The Taiwan delegation also proposed to Governor Inamine their desire to form a joint-business venture with a local business concern to form a company named Okinawa Digital Center. The governor told the delegation he would try to provide assistance. Discussions are presently underway for approval of the planned hotel between the Taiwanese firm, landowners in Ameku, the Naha City Office and the Okinawa Prefecture Promotion Public Corporation.
