Enter any 18th Services facility on Kadena and you are sure to notice the red, white and blue "We Care For You" buttons that Services employees are sporting below their smiles. What are these buttons and why are the employees smiling? Go ahead and ask them - they have the answer to both questions.

They happily wear these buttons because they have the opportunity to prove that their 18th Services Squadron is the Best Services Squadron in the Air Force. Already a winner of the Curtis E. LeMay Services Award for PACAF, Kadena 18th Services is now gearing up to compete against other winners from around the world for the Best Services Squadron in the Air Force. To earn this prestigious honor, each 18th Services employee is ready to show you that they do their job with the utmost pride. 18th Services want to show you that their employees have willingness and determination, that continuous courtesy and service is an ongoing part of what they do and who they are. The slogan "We Care For You" is something they take seriously on a day-to-day basis in their normal daily tasks and line of duty.

General Curtis E. LeMay, for whom the award is named, was said to have been the greatest air commander of all time. In 1951, at the age of 44, he became the youngest US four-star general since Ulysses S. Grant. LeMay was superbly successful at every level of command, and a master of tactics and strategy. He achieved his great triumphs by combining his powers of analytical thinking with a rigorous operational philosophy. So what does this award have to do with General Curtis E. LeMay? Shortly after LeMay's retirement in 1965, the prestigious Curtis E. LeMay Award was initiated by order of the Daedalians. LeMay exemplified management, leadership, customer satisfaction and optimal results. And to earn an award named in his honor, Kadena 18th Services will prove to you that they are the Best in the Air Force because they uphold that standard of management, leadership and customer satisfaction.

So stop on by any 18th Services facility and let the employees show you that the red, white and blue buttons they wear symbolize their pride in serving you and proving to you that Kadena 18th Services is the Best in the Air Force. And why shouldn't they smile about that?
