Ladies lock-up

Cornellus Wedman or as he's more affectionately known, "Big Country," started what he had envisioned to be a small alternative party promotion outlet for military personnel longing for that "back home party atmosphere." Unbeknownst to him, things would take off bigger than he ever anticipated. After getting his feet wet and enjoying momentous success with his first promotion "Pajama Jam" held in San Diego California, June '96, the young entrepreneur found his niche and a way to make people happy while turning a nice profit. Arriving on Okinawa in June 98 and merging with local party promoters Whut Entertainment soon after, Big Country and Whut's manager Franchon have promoted some of the most outlandish and successful parties to date, including the "Pajama Jam" held last month at Torii Station's Coral Cove. As a bonus the dynamic duo is also actively involved in the community. Their recently free "Easter Egg Hunt" in Marek Park on Kadena is just one example of Big Country and Franchon giving back. Other charitable events are planned for the near future.

Now after garnering a local cachet with the "Players Ball" "Black History Celebrations" and the recent "Pajama Jam," promoters Big Country and Whut Entertainment have brainstormed their next extravaganza, the first annual "Ladies Lock-up," scheduled for May 21 at Torii Station's Coral Cove. Imagine if you will, hundreds of the island's most beautiful women all impeccably dressed, flawlessly made-up and their hair shimmering like a diamond encrusted Rolex watch, all clustered together in one room and zealously pampered for three-hours without any men in attendance. Doesn't this sound like every man's dream or an episode of the now defunct TV series Fantasy Island? Well I can assure you it's no dream, as Big Country and Franchon prepare to make your fantasy a reality. Billed as a night totally dedicated to the ladies, the event promises to break the everyday run-of-the-mill routine women are sometimes enthralled with and offer something different for the men. The premise here is simple, for three-hours (8pm-11pm) women will be waited on hand and foot and entertained with a wide spectrum of entertainment to include a dance ensemble, (step shows) singers, poets and live music provided by DJ HI 5IVE. Then promptly at 11pm the men will be allowed entrance to relish in the ladies company and the rest of the evening's festivities lasting until 3am. Tickets are $10 for women and $15 for men in advance. Complimentary hors d oeuvres and free transportation will be provided and the first 100 ladies in will receive a rose. For more information or tickets contact Big Country @ 0901-347 -1650 or Franchon @ 090-3790-2187
