A multimedia center in Nago City was officially opened April 28, in one of the latest projects to promote local economies in northern Okinawa. Officials from both Okinawa Prefecture and the central government were on hand to open the center. Several telecommunication companies, including NTT Nago Telephone Information Center, who opened its office there on April 24, will rent office space in the center. The mayor of Nago City, Tateo Kishimoto, said during the opening ceremony he expects the center to act as a starting point for promoting the economy and lowering local unemployment levels.
