Marathon Running

To run a successful marathon a lot of preparation is necessary. Most novice runners do not properly prepare their body for the vigorous three to four hours of pounding one receives during a marathon.

One common mistake made by inexperienced runners is their failure to wear proper apparel. It is vital when running great distances that proper clothing be worn to prevent chapping or skin irritation. The correct choice of socks will prevent the foot from sliding back and forth in the shoe, therefore eliminating many painful blisters.

The shoes should be of good quality and fit snug. Stability, comfort and support should be important factors when purchasing a pair of running shoes. Being able to complete the first marathon is an accomplishment within itself, so be prepared and start out the correct way.

Remember that it's your body, make your choices wisely.
