Coral Cove Counting Calories

Looking for something different for lunch? A healthy, nutritious lunch that gives your energy level a boost for that long afternoon ahead? If that's you, then a visit to the Coral Cove restaurant on Torii Station is definitely what the doctor ordered. In addition to the Coral Cove's most popular regular items, new lunch grill lines such as Healthy Burgers ($2 -$2.50), Baskets ($4.95 - $6.95), and Wraps ($4.95) have been added to the menu. As the name suggests, Healthy Burgers are great for people who stick to a balanced diet and watch those calories. Served on a sesame seed bun with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, the burgers come in three delicious choices: Turkey, Turkey Cheese, and Salmon. The black pepper seasoned Turkey Burger and the Salmon Burger with tartar sauce is still tasty, even though those menacing calories have been cut. We sampled a morsel of them all and still licking our lips. The Turkey Burger was particularly tasty! Even the Baskets or the Wraps menus can be made into a healthy alternative by adding vegetable sticks, a new option you can also apply to French Fries and Onion Rings. The golden brown of the deep fried Shrimp, Chicken, and Clam all come with cocktail sauce, honey mustard sauce, and tartar sauce. The Chicken and Steak Wrap are deliciously wrapped in tortilla shells with diced chicken or steak strips, grilled onions, mozzarella, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, and lettuce. Needless to say, they tasted pretty good.

Okinawan dishes can also be enjoyed at the restaurant - Soba Soup ($3.25), Yakisoba ($2.75), Fried Rice ($0.75 for a scoop), and Taco Rice ($3.50). They are all prepared by Okinawan chefs and provide a relatively cheaper alternative to off-base restaurants. Entrees such as a Cheese Burger ($1.75), Club Sandwich ($3.50), and BLT ($1.95) are all new. Toss in an extra $1, and your choice of Onion Rings, French Fries, and Vegetable Sticks are yours. The Coral Cove Restaurant offers not only lunch but also breakfast and dinner menus. Open from 6:30am-10:30am for breakfast; 11am - 1:30pm for lunch, and 4pm - 9pm for dinner from Monday through Friday. On Saturdays, the restaurant opens from 8am -10:30am for breakfast, 11am-3:30pm for lunch, 4pm - 9pm for dinner. Sunday Dinner Brunch hours are 10am - 2pm and Dinner 4pm - 9pm. What should not be missed is the Torii Station's Coral Cove Club Sunday Branch that features an Omelet & Waffle Station, Fish, a full Salad Bar, Dessert Bar and much more for only $7.95 for adults, $4 for children under 12, and is free for children not yet 3.

On April 30, from 10 pm until 3 am, the Coral Cove will host The Country Dance party. So come listen to all your favorite songs spun by DJ Michelle McGee. There will also be door prizes, and a best dressed contest. Admission is $5 per person. For more info, call 644-4256 or 4894.
