Date Posted: 1999-04-24

Some of the biggest and best DJs from around the globe are planning a big night of music at the upcoming Waken Fantazee Rave '99, to be held May 1 at the South East Botanical Park's community garden in Okinawa City from 6 p.m.

Okinawan techno DJ John Monroe, who'll also be wearing his other hat that night as one of the Rave's promoters, will be on-hand at the Rave Party to provide his typical driving mixes and innovative music selections. Enjoying the sweet taste of increasing international recognition, Monroe has plans to hold some overseas performances in the future. He also hopes to have up and running the "Okinawan Independent Dance Label" soon.

Other guest DJs include Yoji Biomehanika, one of Japan's most famous disc spinners, DJ Owada, RR Fierce and Karim from the UK, who are going to make sure the Waken Rave is not going to be easily forgotten. Also, for the more culturally inclined, flea market booths will be open for those interested in fine arts and crafts.

Ticket prices are ・4,000 in advance and ・4,500 at door. You can get your tickets from ABC Store Okinawa, Libido, Hysteric Glamour, A-Win in Daiei Awase Branch, Sam Goody Okinawa, and Teruya Music Store.

Japan Update is giving away two tickets for the rave party, so if you'd like to get a free foot into the door, e-mail Tomoko@japanupdate.com or fax Japan Update at 098-934-5690 with your name, address and phone number. The deadline is Wednesday April 28.
