Date Posted: 1999-04-24

The Kadena AB Civilian Personnel Flight (CPF) will be accepting applications for the 1999 Kadena AB Summer Hire Program from May 3 through May 28, officials announced recently.

This year's program offers 20 hours per week positions in clerical, light labor, and heavy labor fields. All positions pay $4.50 per hour. Dependents of DoD military and US civilian personnel (including NAF and AAFES) born between Aug. 21, a975 and Jun. 28, 1985, inclusively, are eligible to apply. Dependent of the personnel of the Red Cross, USO, DoD contractors, BX concessionaires, military banking facilities or universities are not eligible.

Applications are available at the Kadena High School Career Office, Kadena Middle School Main Office, and the Kadena CPF, Bldg 721-A. KADENA CPF must receive applications no later than 4 p.m. on May 28. No applications will be accepted after the deadline.

Employment will begin Jun. 28 and last through Aug. 20. Dependents will be hired with the understanding that they will be expected to work the entire eight-week program to minimize disruption to the organization providing the employment opportunity.

Dependents will be placed in following order: (1) Dependents of sponsors employed on Kadena AB; (2) dependents of sponsors not included in category (1) who reside on Kadena AB; and (3) all other eligible dependents. Sponsors may apply on behalf of their dependents that are not currently on island. Applicants must produce their passport and Social Security Account Number card at the time of submission of their application.
