An open letter to the Wonderful People of Okinawa

Date Posted: 2003-05-10

We are first, second and third grade girls who are in Girl Scouts on Kadena Air Base. Our age level is called "Brownie Girl Scouts". Thank you so much for allowing us to experience all your culture has to offer. We like living on Okinawa because we get to make friends from another country. We like learning a new language and we appreciate your patience when we experiment with using your language! We love all the wonderful new foods we've tried while living here. Our troop went as a group to a Soba restaurant and tried all kinds of new foods. We also love all the different little snacks and treats we have tried. We like experiencing new cultural traditions. We were fortunate enough to be invited by local Okinawan Girl Scouts to try on Kimonos for Girls Day. We like the ocean and all the beautiful scenery around the island. We especially like the amazing parks you've built and allow us to share in. Most of us had never heard of roller slides before living here! We love Okinawa and all it has to offer very much!

Sincerely,

Brownie Troop 400
