Christmas herb robberies

Local thieves have gone on a health spree, considering a row of thefts that have taken place in the southern part if Okinawa, especially at Tomishiro and Haebaru Villages. There the thieves have been busy harvesting herbs from farmersí fields in a big scale.

The herbs that were taken were intended for Christmas decorations and spices for cooking. Police has yet to apprehend any suspect. Farmersí estimate that the thefts have cost them about •1.8 million.

To counter the crooks herb farmers in the area are planning to create patrol teams to safeguard their spices, and eventually put the thieves in some real kimchi.
