Kin town assembly agrees to transfer of Sobe telecommunications site

Date Posted: 1999-04-02

Kin Town assembly accepted the transfer of the Sobe Telecommunication site from its current site in Yomitan Village to Kin Town at a meeting held on Tuesday. The controversial vote had attracted a full gallery of people aggressively both opposing and promoting the transfer.

At the meeting, the assembly members discussed about the pros and cons of the move. The meeting was called to the recess for six hours in order to give both the proponents and opponents a chance to summarize their arguments. At the end, the Kin Town Assembly decided to give a go-ahead to the proposed move.

People advocating the move see it as a chance for the town to improve its finances and business climate. The members of the opposing group were naturally disappointed with the decision and said that the members of the assembly should have listened to the opinion of the people of Kin Town.
