Navy wins, everyone gets into Christmas spirit at Torii

Last Saturday turned into a fun day for everyone as the rain made way for a beautiful day at Torii Station. The annual Army Navy foot ball game proved to be a classic confrontation with Navy taking honors in a 28 to 15 win over Army. It looked as though Army was on their way to another win when they scored early in the game, but Navy managed to come right back with great offensive play making, and their defense held Army in check throughout the game. For Navy, who has lost to Army six times in the past, the win comes as a sweet victory in front of a packed field. The games overall MVP honors went to the Navy's halfback Casey Riddle. The offensive MVP of the game was Marine Staff Sergeant Lloyd Dawson of the Navy team, while Army's James Hines walked away with the Defensive MVP award.

Earlier in the day kids competed in the "kick, punt, and pass" competition, giving it their best in the tradition of good sportsmanship.

Inside of Torii's gymnasium folks also enjoyed Christmas shopping with an array of crafted items at the Krist Kindle Mart. Sato Travel and Continental Micronesia donated a round-trip ticket to Bali, which was won by Maria Crepeau during the event's raffle and prize give-away. Crepeau's husband, Army Sergeant First Class Vincent E. Crepeau volunteered as Santa Clause for the day, proving that volunteering does pay sometimes! The Christmas tree lighting ceremony was also enjoyed by everyone.

MWR Army and MWR Navy did an excellent job organizing the event, and special thanks was given to sponsors AT&T and Coca-Cola Japan.
