Cultural Awareness Courses

A 'Tastes of the Orient' special holiday edition class will focus on garnishes, Friday, Nov. 20 at Kadena's Family Support Center. Mr. Troy Guyer, the Kadena NCO Club Complex's executive chef, will give a seminar and demonstration on how to turn holiday meals into works of art. Register no later than Nov. 19 and sign up early!

Join in the fun of learning and practicing various Okinawan classical fold dances. Learn the difference between the styles and the meaning of the costumes. The Ryukyu Dance Class will be offered Monday, Nov. 30 and if you wish to participate, please call the Family Support Center at 634-3366. An Obi Demonstration will be held on the same date. Come watch an expert demonstrate how to turn these already lovely items into true works of art.

On Nov. 13, a 'Been There, Done That' Western view of Okinawan Culture seminar is available for those interested in learning cultural tips from a different side. Register by Thursday, Nov. 12, to learn bits of wisdom to help you during your stay here.
