Soldiers receive expanded cable service

Date Posted: 1998-11-20

Soldiers living on Army installations are getting their thumbs warmed up for some serious channel surfing as the Army on Okinawa expands its cable television service from five channels to 55 channels.

The Army will celebrate the addition of the Americable International Japan, Inc. service with a ceremony Friday at 3 p.m. on Fort Buckner, Building 90, where a soldier will be the first to surf the new channels.

The service is being provided free to soldiers on Army installations through Army Morale, Welfare and Recreation funds. For more information, contact the Torii Station Public Affairs Office at 644-4241.
