Island ParkBy: Christopher Lynagh Date Posted: 1998-10-09 Okinawa Island Park's roller coaster doesn't offer that particular thrill, though make no mistake, it's a guaranteed eyebrow curler...only please, do schedule lunch accordingly! There are gentler rides too, such as the Coffee Cup and a very traditional looking merry-go-round, complete with mirrors, lights and carved horses that will thrill the little ones as well as the young at heart. And now, through Japan Update and the Kadena USO, Okinawa Island Park is offering half-price discounts on all rides. Ticket books of ten have now been slashed to a ridiculous ¥2,500! One ticket gets you one ride; an almost unbelievable offer. Yes, a day at Island Park offers affordable, fun packet amusement for all ages. Admission is ¥900 for adults, ¥300 for high school students and ¥200 for elementary school students. Children under three gain entrance free of charge. Group discounts are also available. The three car parks provide space for 530 vehicles, so there is no need to worry about parking. To get to Island Park from Kadena, go straight along Gate 2 street, passing through the four-way intersection and continuing past the large police station to the right. The road becomes tree-lined and stars to rise onto a gentle hill. Soon after, you'll pass Koza Junior High School on your right, at the very crest of the hill. Take the first right on a rather narrow street, and you'll see Island Park on your left. Have a great day at Okinawa's Island Park. |
