APEC energy ministers’ meeting starts today

Energy ministers from APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Council) member countries will convene in a meeting at Okinawa Convention Center in Ginowan City, today. The conference will last through Saturday. The conference will be attended by energy ministers from Australia, Brunei, Canada, U.S., Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Korea, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Japan. Delegates from Russia, Vietnam and Peru will attend as observers.

The 350 plus delegates representing 21 countries will attend a conference which is the first of its kind to be held in Okinawa. The agenda of the conference will include the Pacific Economic Cooperation Conference (PECC), and seminars on clean environment and new energy source development. The main purpose of the meeting is to find and coordinate areas where member countries can cooperate in future policies.
