Marine dies after injured in fight

A Marine lance corporal was pronounced dead at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Camp Lester, Tuesday. He died as a result of head injuries he sustained during a fight in Kitamae area, on Friday. Marine officials identified the victim as Lance Cpl. Irvin J. Harper, 19, of Parker, Arizona.

According to Okinawa Police, Harper had gotten into a fight with several people outside a local bar, and was struck in the head with a beer bottle. Officials have apprehended another marine who is currently held as a suspect in pretrial confinement at the Joint Services Brig on Camp Hansen.
