Students at Arts College to exchange arts

Students of Okinawa Arts College held a send-off performance for a group of their fellow students departing for Indonesia, at the Art College Hall, Saturday. The students, who specialize in Okinawan dance decided to go to Indonesia to exchange Okinawan and Indonesian art. They chose Indonesia because the Indonesian folk arts are similar to Okinawan. They contacted their Indonesian counterparts by themselves and without help from authorities, to organize their performance in Indonesia. They also financed the trip by themselves by organizing performances.

The group will travel to Indonesia on Sep. 22, and is scheduled to perform Okinawan folk dances and other arts, conduct workshops and hold an art and cultural exchange meeting with the students of the Indonesian Arts College.
