LL Cool J - what else is there to say?

This week is something like a phenomenon on Okinawa. Read on for a special prize just for Japan Update readers. Backbeat- The rain didn’t dampen the Cool Running party as much as those with little faith. The King Ryukyu Crew setup their massive sound system, the man they call Jason (owner of Cool Running) had plenty of food on hand, and the Partyman was there. And it didn’t rain after 2pm! Let that be a lesson to us all, ìit’s going to rain whether or not we party, so let’s party anyway,"so sayeth the Partyman.I’ve never had an easier time with a Pick of the Week. LL Cool J ( which stands for Ladies Love Cool James), the multitalented Rapper and TV star, is on Okinawa for one day and one day only on his farewell tour - as in this is his last tour folks- 13 Sep at MCAS Futenma. Tickets are $20 ($25 at the door) and may be purchased at ITT or any Marine Base Gymnasium (activity desk) and food and drink vendors will be plentiful.

Special Notice: Due to the increased security on base, the Partyman has been asked to pass on that Non-Sofa attendees must be signed into the base by a Sofa sponsor. Call or e-mail the Partyman if you want one of my 4 free tickets. The action begins at 5pm with local rising star DJ Crissa. Next, the popular R&B group Ultimate Satisfaction takes the stage to get everyone in the groove for the headliner. Insiders tell me that MWR expects some 3,000 people in attendance and hope that this will be the first of many annual "Phenomenon Parties." I can tell you that I’ve been a fan of the talented LL Cool J since his first hit at age 16. I’ve listened to his hits in the Far East, Germany and of course the U.S. and if you haven’t had a chance to see him in person, jump on this one because it will truly be an event to remember. As always, if you know of any event that you think should be featured as a Pick of the Week, Call Japan Update at 098 934 5716, fax 098 934 5690 (Attention PartyMan), or e-mail partyman@japanupdate.com
