Okinawan Ocean to go on Internet

Date Posted: 1998-09-04

Okinawa Kanko Convention Bureau together with NTT Okinawa has concluded a project to post Okinawan ocean scenery on the world wide net. The new site, featuring underwater sights of various locations in the prefecture will be on from today. This marks the first time Okinawan underwater scenery has been on the net for anyone to see.

Officials at the Okinawa Kanko Convention Bureau expect the new web site to be an effective tool in promoting Okinawan tourism. "We expect the new web site to help us to introduce Okinawa to overseas tourists and attract them in increasing numbers," an official at the bureau said.

The website will be live daily from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weather permitting. The project will run through March next year.

The web site can be linked through two sites. Okinawa Kanko Convention Bureauís site is www.rik.co.jp/MAHAE.OCVB.OKINAWA/ Another address is NTT Okinawa Branchís www.okinawa.kyushu.mbc.ntt.co.jp/wnnc/
